Ryan Reynolds is so very hot. Huge fan since Blade. But Green Lantern was disappointing.

The Hobbit film
I was just curious to who has gone to see The Hobbit. I saw the midnight showing Thursday night(and barely had time to sleep before work) and thought it was really good. Of course, it's been over a decade since I read the book, and I really didn't want to spoil the movie by rereading it before I watched it.
Overall, it was very entertaining. I was pleased to see that the Dwarves weren't treated like Ghimli was in the previous Lord of the Rings films. They were impressively nimble and fierce fighters. Also, there was an (I think, intentional) gay bear undertone to the whole group which I found... interesting. ;)
I also like that Peter Jackson is delving into some of the unexplored parts of the book—mainly, when Gandalf leaves the party to deal with the necromancer. Also, we get to see Radagast, the Brown. He's not really how I imagined the nature-obsessed wizard, but I was still pleased to see him and understood why he was made the way he was.
That's my two cents. What did you guys think? Of course, negative critiques are welcome.

Hey, I just joined LiveJournal and this community. Just wanted to see if anyone was out there. Doesn't seem like many communities have been updated recently.
Would love to make some new friends so comment if you're alive and reading this.

43 years ago a bunch of queers decided they were tired of being harassed, denigrated and abused and stood up for themselves. 3 days of riots ensued, and the country was suddenly forced to see them as people. We have the queens, dykes, leather men, and drag queens of that night, as well as those brave individuals who worked for decades before them, to thank for laying the groundwork of the progress we've attained today. The fight continues every day, but I for one look back proudly on what they did for me and thank them for it.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_riots Current Mood: proud

Heavy Ink comics controversy
If anyone out there buys their comics from Heavy Ink
, an online comics retailer, I offer that you might want to reconsider, as the president, Travis Corcoran, seems to think shooting members of Congress isn't such a bad idea
(to quote, "1 down, 534 to go
," in reference to the January 8 shooting in Tucson, Arizona
that left 6 people dead and critically injured U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords, the intended target of the attack, being the first of the 535 members of Congress).
Needless to say there's been some significant buzz, including Paul Cornell asking readers not to buy his books from the site, and Nick Spencer specifically requesting that Corcoran stop stocking his books.
There's also been a lot of hemming and hawing from Corcoran - in a long, rambling diatribe
he outlines his political views, and although at one point he says, "No, I do not endorse shooting at politicians in 2011," he seems to think an armed revolution is just over the horizon (i.e., shooting at politicians sometime in the future would be acceptable); on his Twitter account
he says, "I don't incite the killing of any politicians; that would be illegal. I merely think that it's morally legitimate."
Although I hope I included enough links to pertinent information so that someone could make up their own mind about this, I'm posting this because I think this guy is a tremendous douchebag that deserves all the bad karma he can get. Is he entitled to his opinion? Of course, and he's equally entitled to spread it all over the internet if he so desires. I don't think, however, that hateful rhetoric like this should be rewarded, so I'm equally free to spread that opinion all over the internet myself. Current Mood: concerned

Just got my FFXIII Platinum Trophy...
So I just got the PS3 platinum trophy for FFXIII at about 85 hours gameplay. About 20+ hours of that was farming Adamantoises for gil because of the ridiculous treasure hunter achievement.
So I have all the weapons, fully maxed characters, and 5 star'ed every mission. My question is, now what...?! No hidden bosses, no easter eggs, no extra dungeons, no side story quests, no pets, no card game, no more character development (crystarium maxes out way too early), no more exploring. Whatever you get in Chapter 11, you are stuck with in Chapter 13 all through til the end. We can't even revisit any of the places we saw in Chapters 1-10, and now I am kicking myself for not staying longer in Nautilus, notably one of the only memorable "towns" in the game.
imo, SqEnix really dropped the ball on post game material!

One day only- ex nun nerd comedy! (NYC)
When comic Kelli Dunham was known as Sister Mercy, she used to drool over the folks carrying home the Sunday New York Times since the only reading material she had access to was spiritual books and the Bible. Now, on her 15 year anniversary of leaving the convent, she's celebrating with food, storytelling, and, of course, go go dancers. Brought to you by the brave folks at Found Voice Communications and everyone's favorite nerdpolykinkster comic Kelli Dunham.
Tickets are just 15 bucks in advance
. If you want to read more about what a nice dyke like Kelli was doing in a place like that, check out the 12 Days of Convent at Sistermercy.com

I R needing computer help, plz.
The first problem has an easy answer, I know (believe me, I know), but I cannot figure it out. I'm on XP Media Center Edition and my Explorer Bar (thing on the left side when looking at My Documents) disappeared and I can't figure out how to get it back. All I can get to come up are folders, which I don't want.
Problem #2 may be more complicated. *shrug* I have an HP wireless mouse that is really pissing me off. It takes 5 or 6 clicks for it to actually open a folder or switch between windows. I've replaced batteries, I've resynced, I've rebooted, I've uninstalled and updated drivers. And Googled. I am having no luck fixing the stupid mouse.
Please no comments about Mac being better than PC unless you are going to buy one for me.

On Tor.com: a nice review of Wilde Stories 2010, which I edited.
Lethe's sales are great but our cash flow remains less than ideal. One reason is because we've had to send out far more galleys and review copies to sites and jurors for awards. One award requested 6 books for 14 jurors rushed out. And bookstores, feeling the poor economy, have been slow in paying us.
We're just finished the mid-year royalty reports. I want to start paying people, so to help with our cash flow I'm offering a special deal on subscriptions to Icarus: The Magazine of Gay Speculative Fiction
Even if you're not gay, chances are (hell, I assume so if you're getting this email) you know someone who'd enjoy reading new stories of gay-themed fantasy, horror and science-fiction. Not to mention reviews, gossip, interviews and essays. Authors we've published include Hal Duncan, Tanith Lee, Jeff Mann and Alex Jeffers. And you could always donate a subscription to a gay youth or community center. Or a library.
You can see past issues here
So here's the deal:
$40 - 4 issues, starting with either the Summer or Fall 2010 issue (your choice). That's a $12 savings off the cover price!
$50 - the 4 issues above plus a free copy of any Lethe Press title. I recommend a copy of Diana Comet and Other Improbable Stories
-- this has been a real success for us with a starred review in Booklist
$75 - a 2 yr subscription plus a free copy of any Lethe Press title.
Domestic USA or foreign, it doesn't make a difference!
I'm hoping to add 50 new subscribers. That's my goal for this special which will last until September 1st.
Current subscribers, you can add another year to your subscription for only $35!
Lethe authors, if you want to get a subscription, email me for a special offer.
You can send us a check or Paypal us the funds:

Hey, it's nice to be part of this group! Hopefully I'll get to know some more gay boys/girls/pokemon friends here
Well, I just wondering what other guys' opinions are on environmental issues. Climate change, nuclear power, anything! Would be interested to know =)
Check out my journal post if you don't really have an opinion. It's mainly about consumerism, but that should get you started!
